Breathtaking Home!

This Sea Ranch home is breathtaking! We came here for a family birthday celebration and it was the highlight on our calendar for many months and we had been looking forward to our visit with great anticipation. This home exceeded our expectations in every possible way. The home was spotless, absolutely immaculate. The kitchen very well equipped. We loved the beautiful walks by the ocean and then returning to the home and playing the piano as the sunset was setting over the ocean. The beach just below the house had a gorgeous delicate waterfall and there was even a nice area for wind-sheltered picnicking and it was fun watching the harbor seals play in the surf. This home set the bar pretty high. No need to travel anywhere else, ever!! The owner was immediately attentive to our every question. We enjoyed our stay so much, and YES, we will return here as soon as possible!

What a beautiful Sea Ranch discovery!

I highly recommend this property - - pictures can not reflect the uniqueness of this gorgeous escape right next to the ocean--the house was spotless on arrival with an immaculately cared-for and very appealing atmosphere throughout the home. We could watch sea lions and their pups from the front deck area and more than one beckoning walk was made throughout our stay along the beautiful Sea Ranch oceanfront. I have deftly lost more than one tennis match at the enclave's courts--maybe I will try their beautiful golf course next time, as I am sure to return to this very relaxed but well-appointed home. Nature's masterful blending of sea and land on the north coast was not crowded and we were able to make use of the nearby town of Gualala's bounty of food, wine and arts and crafts choices.

This Sea Ranch home far exceeded our expectations!

What the pictures don’t really show is how close the home is to the water: the property is less than 100’ from the bluff! There is a very private beach just below the home. I know there are many homes available to rent at Sea Ranch but we found that less than 10% are actually ON the water like this one is. Most people come to Sea Ranch to be “at the Sea”…and you just can’t go wrong with this one. This home is undeniably one of Sea Ranch’s finest vacation rentals, and from the moment you walk in, you won’t be able to help but fall in love with it. The home was immaculate, and the location was absolutely amazing!!! Beds were comfortable, the kitchen contained plenty of equipment for our baking and cooking needs, and the outdoor grill (with a direct connection to the house, so no need for a propane tank) was wonderful. It was everything and more than described in the VRBO listing. The owner John was great too. We loved it so much, we are planning our next return visit!

Fantastic in every way!

The house itself is in a stunning location, and the interior of the home is beautiful and welcoming. It is a true home and the moment we stepped in the door we all felt the great energy in the house. The owner was responsive and a pleasure to work with. We would definitely go back! We spent hours just watching the whales and sea lions while sitting on the back deck. It was a special weekend! Incredible home!

The home was absolutely perfect for our group of 8. We spent a long weekend and mostly stayed in! Wonderfully equipped kitchen for dinners in, evenings in the “great room” with room for everyone to visit, and a terrific location. We had some musicians who loved the Steinway grand piano. This property is definitely a step -- or many steps -- above the usual vacation rental home, but definitely worth the extra money. We've stayed at numerous vacation properties all over and I have to say this home was easily the most comfortable home we've ever stayed at. When we did venture into town -- Gualala is just a seven minute drive away – we found a couple of excellent restaurants, a fine-foods store, a bookstore and a first-rate crafts gallery. John was very helpful before our arrival answering our questions. I’d highly recommend Vista Del Mar and we plan to come back and make this an annual retreat!

What a wonderful stay at Vista Del Mar!

An amazing place to learn the magic of Sea Ranch

What an incredibly relaxing visit! We enjoyed our blissful stay so much. Your home is so beautiful and comfortable as well. We enjoyed a wonderful birthday celebration with my family with whom we spent some great quality time. The views from the rocky cliffs never get old and we loved walking on the beautiful trails and spotting seals lounging on the rocks and even some whales. We would be honored to stay again!

Perfect Family Retreat

We cannot say enough good things about this home. As Super hosts on Air B&B ourselves, we have a standard of excellence and this home lived up to our expectations in every way. We gathered together for Easter weekend with our son and his new bride, her parents and two sisters. First, it is a spectacular ocean front spot with seals, sea birds, and migrating whales in front of your eyes. There are nature trails galore for every fitness level, and a lovely deck, hot tub to take in the scenery. The bedroom floorplan offers privacy and each has a view of the coastline. We love to cook and the kitchen is perfectly stocked with quality utensils, china, etc. Cheers to housekeeping as it was spotless when we arrived. I personally loved the art and artifacts that made this house a tasteful home. John was in communication to help me find the coffee bean grinder and a few other (Website hidden by Airbnb) helpful and just plain nice! We highly recommend this retreat for a couple or a family and definitely plan to visit again.

Beautiful, well-cared for home in an ideal location (right off the bluff trail, overlooking the Pacific coast, quiet secluded cul-de-sac) with all the amenities you could ask for (hot tub, BBQ grill, well-stocked kitchen, beautiful backyard deck, fast Wi-Fi, fireplace and wood stove), managed by attentive, communicative, unobtrusive hosts (John and Karen). Perfection on the Bluffs

What a gem this lovely home is… Set right on the bluffs, the serene setting and zen decor of this beautiful house set the mood for a very special family gathering…. The views from the house were so beautiful that we had to force ourselves to get out and further explore the area, which kept surprising with magnificent vistas, beaches, and groves of wind-blown trees. This was a perfect spot to reconnect with family and nature… Loved it!

Wonderful Sea Ranch Weekend

Our family including kids (2 & 5), and grandparents, had a wonderful weekend stay at Sea Ranch. John was so incredibly helpful at the time of booking and all the way through the end of our stay. We enjoyed our daily walks around Sea Ranch - including one of the playgrounds on-site (near a Seal preserve!). We enjoyed an afternoon swim on one of the days at the Moonraker pool. We also enjoyed all of the meals we cooked in the kitchen - we brought up many groceries but enjoyed filling in the gaps at The Surf store in Gualala. We hope to be back again soon!

Incredible Home!

Vista Del Mar was absolutely incredible. The view of the ocean from bed in the morning was my favorite way to wake up. The hot tub has the most amazing views of the stars at night and during the day the view through the moveable window panels was exquisite. There is so much space to spread out and relax, and I have never seen such a well stocked kitchen in a vacation house.

Wonderful Stay, Wonderful Property!

I loved my stay and can't wait to come back. The house is well-maintained, perfectly outfitted, and extremely comfortable. It's obvious that John and his family love the home and take great care of it. The deck is perfect for soaking up the sun. Loveliest Sea Ranch Stay Ever!

This is the loveliest home we have EVER stayed in at Sea Ranch (and we have been coming to Sea Ranch for many, many years!). Everything is so incredibly well stocked. Wonderful experience right at the ocean's edge!

Vista Del Mar is a magical place where we experience what it’s like to live right in the oceans edge! The sound of the waves, the sea breeze is and the salt in the air set the mood. We love chasing waves, collecting tiny treasures and building elaborate sandcastles in study battlements. If not at the beach, we were walking paths along the bluffs. The house is absolutely perfect. The kitchen is just first class. The window seats and the comfy beds are perfect antidote to our sea-filled days. We played games at the kitchen table and watched the sunsets from the deck. What could be more perfect? Thank you so much; we look forward to making a return visit!

Thank you so much for providing your beautiful home for others to share! The place is amazingly equipped with everything! Given the Covid situation, we cooked all meals here and never had a hitch with the kitchen and supplies: barbecue, stew, fish, bread, cookies, Vino, and more Vino, etc. The views are spectacular, with great walking trails and we even biked from the Point Arena Lighthouse (back roads and only a short section on Highway One). The hot tub and views are awesome and had fun using the Apple TV and streamed some TV shows. A great long weekend for us all! Thanks again for thinking of everything…

Beautiful Way to Experience Sea Ranch

Serene holiday

Clean, beautifully maintained property with sweeping ocean views. Good location within ranch by bluff trail. Uncluttered with just enough interesting personal objects, books, games to feel like home rather than a generic rental. Great house in great location

Excellent location with nearby ocean front view through big picture windows. Great master bedroom and bathroom with ocean view and very comfortable bed but no closet, only a short wardrobe; other two bedrooms are in a separate wing with one bathroom for the two bedrooms. Everything works well, the heat is specially efficient and fast.

What an incredible home!!

Restorative Weekend

I don't think you could ask for a better location or home to stay in at Sea Ranch! Our group had the most fun, restorative weekend reading on the deck, walking on nearby beaches and listening to our two professional musicians serenade us on the beautiful piano. It was hard to leave!

Idyllic Week!

John’s house is beautifully designed and appointed with a spectacular view. We spent an idyllic week wandering the bluffs and beaches and were happy to return to this lovely house. Most beautiful home in all of Sea Ranch

This is an amazing house and the location is one of the most beautiful in all of Sea Ranch. The house has everything you could need and more. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and herbs and spices. It has everything I always wanted to buy for myself but never got around to getting. Oh- and the deck and the hot tub are just perfectly located. The house is super private and at the end of Breakers Reach. The perfect getaway in a phenomenally stunning place.

A perfect place to enjoy the fresh air and sea wildlife!

We had a most amazing time at Sea Ranch to celebrate our honeymoon and the start of our marriage together. We absolutely love being outside; we saw many seals, birds and the deer here in the yard. Fantastic Sea Ranch Experience

My overall review is short: This is an excellent place--hard to imagine anyone who wants to stay in Sea Ranch not having a great experience.

My notes for others on this house (to try and be helpful):

Sea Ranch, as a whole, is one of the most lovely getaway spots anywhere. The drive up CA1 is worth the time alone, and the ocean-side houses and long meandering trails are the perfect way to relax. John has a great place right in the middle of Sea Ranch, and nicely close to the rec center/pool. We had three generations sleep there for Christmas, and everyone was comfortable the whole time. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes/flatware as well as cook pots/pans/implements/spices, the couches and chairs are very comfortable, and there are more bed/sleeping combinations possible with the upper level loft than is apparent at first blush. Additionally, the sheets and blankets on the beds are very comfortable, helping even the lighter sleepers in our crew stay blissfully asleep. This feels much more like a beloved family vacation house, used by grandparents and many little kids alike (check out the pile of games in the bedroom closet), than a sterile purpose-purchased and appointed Airbnb. I would go back anytime.

Overall, I was very impressed with the house, and would absolutely stay here again. John was very communicative about setting expectations, check-in, and progress, and we tried to be as respectful as possible of his very lovely home.

The real utopia by the sea!

John was tremendously accommodating and helpful during our stay. We were greeted with a gift basket of goodies and the home is absolutely stunning. The view alone is worth the stay! But home itself was a perfect get-a-way for our group of friends. We did not want for anything as the home is fully equipped and stocked. I highly recommend Vista Del Mar for your trip to the utopia by the sea, Sea Ranch.

A stay I will never forget!

Staying at John's beautiful Sea Ranch home was something I will never forget! The home was perfectly located in the center of Sea Ranch, close to the Lodge, Recreation Centers, beaches, bluff trails and Gualala. The views of the ocean from literally every room were breathtaking. Even the hot tub had sweeping views of the California coastline. I took a group of friends for my 50th birthday and the accommodations were perfect- clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, well appointed kitchen, nice linens, plenty of parking. But most importantly, our host, John, went above and beyond to make us comfortable. He communicated everything prior to arrival and during our stay. He was kind and welcoming and we cannot wait to return to this special and unique home!!! Thank you, John!!!

WOW! Perfectly situated on the Sea Ranch clifftops!

Vista Del Mar is a comfortable, spacious house, perfectly situated on the Sea Ranch clifftops. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful space, hiking along the coast path, enjoying the hot tub, grilling, and drinking coffee in the sunshine. Recommended without hesitation, and we hope to come back again.

Exceptional Sea Ranch Home!

There are many homes at The Sea Ranch but few have maintained the design thoughtfulness of the original project’s design ethos. This house is an exception - warm wood detailing inside and out, fireplaces, window boxes, grand piano, and all the general coziness you’d associate with a modern cottage by the sea. The location is also extremely rare for a public rental - directly overlooking the sea cliffs, with views of seals and sea otters from the porch. A few minutes’ walk away is a fantastic secret beach with tide pools and seasonal waterfall. The house is generally well-appointed and we’ll-kept for its age. If you are planning a stay with the full 8 guests, I’d recommend paying an extra share for the master suite. The guest bedrooms are clean and one bedroom is in a loft space up a cool set of spiral stairs. Just before and after sunset, look out for a grey fox stopping by the back porch on his nightly patrol! The hosts are very responsive and have an encyclopedia of local information. We’ll need to visit multiple times to see it all!

A beautiful home in a beautiful community!

Staying at John and Karen's place is like staying at a really nice version of your grandparents beach house. It's a beautiful home in a beautiful community. The home is right off the beach - you walk less than one minute off the porch and you're at the cliff overlooking the ocean. There's a short walk (2-3 mins) to the stairs that take you down to a small, secluded beach (I think it's Stengel Beach) that sees very few visitors. Very well stocked kitchen (and spices!) + grill. Very comfortable beds. Very nice hot tub. Updated fixtures and appliances. Very responsive and tons of recommendations for food and activities in the area. Place is very very clean and it's clear the hosts value and care intensely for their home, treat it accordingly and you shouldn't have any problems with them. All in all: a fantastic place to stay, I couldn't recommend it enough.

Location, location, location...

Location, location, location. Vista Del Mar’s gorgeous oceanfront position make it an ideal place to enjoy The Sea Ranch. The kitchen is stocked with anything you could possibly need. We also enjoyed grilling steaks one night. Possibly my favorite part though was stargazing from the hot tub. We appreciated the sliding doors on the patio when a skunk wandered past one night!

Exactly what our group was looking for!

John’s place proved to be exactly what our group was looking for, we wish we had a longer stay. The place is situated on a beautiful beach with a waterfall. We picked this Airbnb for the nature and saw seals, deer, it was the perfect weekend in nature. The home was immaculate, our group of 7 loved all of it - thank you for a beautiful weekend John :)

Three Amazing Days!

We spent the most amazing three days with our family at Vista Del Mar. It's a dream of a house, really. The sea views are stunning from every room and the layout works great. What a sensational house!

What a sensational house! We loved our time here and can't recommend it enough. From our living room, we saw so many birds of prey (including Ospreys) also seals, sea otters, deer, dolphins and a few different kinds of whale. The Sea Ranch is a unique and wonderful place and John's house is a brilliant place from which to see it.

The perfect place to detach!

John was such a gracious host! We felt completely welcome in his home. The pictures don't do this place justice - imagine waking up to 360 views of the ocean! We drove up from San Francisco with a group of girlfriends and had such a relaxing weekend - it's the perfect place to detach. One tip if you haven't driven highway 1 before - take it slow and expect winding roads. John was even nice enough to find a necklace that my friend had left behind and send it back to her. He's truly one of the most generous hosts you'll encounter. We can't wait to go back!

Lovely Time at Vista Del Mar!

My family and I had a lovely time at Vista Del Mar. The home is gorgeous and the views amazing. From the thoughtful gift basket we were greeted with to the warm fireplace, everything felt very inviting. The outdoor space is amazing for entertaining. Walking the trail which runs along the coast we noted none of the neighbors in a mile in either direction had such an expansive deck. This was important to us as the eight of us wanted to spend as much time as possible outside. The spa is great too. You have the ability to forward shades for a completely private soaking experience, or leave them open to the beautiful views of the ocean. We saw a ton of wildlife right in the backyard - deers, a fox, a bobcat, whales and seals. There's a beach less than 100 yards from the house, however the stairs led to a rock which had to be scaled down to reach the bottom. This was a bit too risky for two of us who are pregnant, but luckily there's another beach less than 1/4 mi south which had stairs leading all the way to the sand. We all had fun stacking stones and beach combing. If your looking for a great home to host a family vacation look no further. We would definitely rent from John again next time we decide to escape to the north coast :)

How soon can you get here?

What you see is definitely what you get and then some. Fine views, well appointed rooms, inviting ambiance, and all of Sea Ranch to enjoy. Hot tub is private yet has stunning vistas. Deck is perfect day or evening. Fireplace and piano cozy up the living room whether one is gazing afar or languishing on a comfy seat, reading, snoozing, perhaps chatting. Kitchen is large and functional. Access to a locals' sandy beach is just feet off the deck as is the walking trail that runs the length of Sea Ranch along the cliffs. Fun in stormy weather, too.

The Perfect Getaway

Everything and more-if anything the owners have understated their home and the experience.Beautiful walks by the ocean,views that stretch for eternity,quiet that is only interrupted by the occasional call of a seagull,and a kitchen and living area that can most comfortably accomodate parties of 8 or intimate couples of two. Our ABSOLUTE favorite Sea Ranch Home!

We have rented homes on the bluff at Sea Ranch for many years and this was everything it was said to be and much MORE. My family kept saying that it was the best house we've ever rented before. We are really meticulous and we have rented some homes before that had been last cleaned by the prior renters and unfortunately THEIR cleaning standards were not what OUR standards are. We really appreciated the fact that the home was cleaned by professional housekeepers...and it was spotless! The views from all the rooms were just incredible...even while showering in the guest bathroom!

What a spectacular home!

What a spectacular home! Overlooking the ocean. Views from every room!!!

The home is so open and yet so private. Talk about a place that meets all of your needs.

We felt like we were the only ones around. The way the home is set on the lot, it could not be any more private!

We could not have asked for anything more.

From the welcoming charming garden and sitting areas, in the front of the home, to the expansive back deck that has a 180 degree view of the ocean. Incredible! If you step off the patio and walk through the open back yard, you are right at the cliff’s edge, where you can sit and look out over the beach below! Just amazing.

Not to mention, the comfortable and charming Master that also has an incredible view, access to the patio and a separate access to the huge outdoor spa.

The spa is really great, it is enclosed on it’s own separate patio, ”very private”, and just off the master bath. The greatest thing is, that if you wish, you can slide two panels to the side and have the same incredible ocean view as the adjoining patio.

The home itself is wonderful. There is a large and comfortable living room, with window seats that look out in all directions to the ocean. The living room, is conveniently set up as a great room connecting to a spacious, open kitchen and large dining area.

The home has two beautiful stone fireplaces, one in the living room and another in the Master. The Living room has a huge flat screen TV, visible also from the kitchen and eating area. Great sound system as well. There is even a baby grand piano!

All the creature comforts and more! We can’t wait to go back!!!!

Utterly Modern but Incredibly Peaceful - Technology Meets Tranquility at Vista Del Mar

Vista Del Mar is truly tech savvy: powerful Wi-Fi throughout the home and
connecting to the AirPlay-equipped speakers wirelessly was a breeze from
both my computer and my wife's iPad - what a great idea! We really liked the
fact that the 46" HDTV was equipped with all the DirecTV channels we don't
get at home - in HD! We stayed there for four nights and the weather was
perfect . The kitchen / living room/dining room/great room had fantastic
views and we all could be together. In addition to having everything we
needed it was very clean and well maintained. The house is full of light
and a perfect place for old friends for over 40 years to catch up. I highly

A very beautiful home in a great location!!

Our vacation at this beautiful house was quite special. We visited in the winter when the ocean was wild and powerful. This house is so close to the coastline that you could always hear the surge and you could often see the big waves, as they approach the coastline.

The family room and the kitchen have beautiful vistas, pointed just in the right direction. The house is spacious, comfortable and quite relaxing. The kitchen is first class, the fire-place grand and the bedrooms are each special in their own way.

We loved this beautiful destination and plan to visit this particular home again soon. Pick this house when you vacation next at Sea Ranch.

Paella in Paradise

Its really hard to properly describe how special Vista del Mar is. Its absolutely incredible. The property is in a perfect spot on the beach with a beautiful view of rocks where the seals hang out. Its like a gigantic painting that keeps changing all day because of the differences in light and tide. Cracking the window at night and all you could hear was the sound of the surf. The big wide deck was perfect for making a communal paella with three other couples. About the house, we were very impressed by the level of detail in upkeep, supplies, condition, etc. Sea Ranch is a very special place on the California coast and staying in Vista del Mar is a truly exceptional way to experience it.

Idyllic Escape

The property is perfectly situated for beach access and panoramic ocean views, yet it still remains private. The enclosed entrance garden is an oasis of warm sun and beautifully kept plantings - an ideal spot for morning coffee or an afternoon book. The house is not only fully equipped for cooking, dining, reading, access to cable television, internet, and music; it is beautifully appointed with original artwork, antiques, and even a grand piano! Every room exudes its own personal charm - a truly welcoming home and luxurious escape - just what we were looking for. The ocean is visible from nearly every window, and the expansive deck and large hot tub afford ocean vistas and the sound of pounding surf. Beautiful home in a stunning location

My husband and I were very happy we rented Vista Del Mar. The description given of the home is very accurate. We found the property to be in perfect condition, having a fabulous location overlooking the ocean, with a well-equipped kitchen, fireplaces, hot tub, wonderful grand piano fit for a concert pianist, and other amenities as well as being quiet, serene, with stunning views, and a great place to relax. The rental service is very thorough and helpful, easy to locate, and quick to answer all of our questions. We love to cook and were delighted to find two good grocery stores next to the rental agency as well as all the equipment we needed for our meals supplied in the house.

I highly recommend this lovely home for a relaxing vacation. There are many possibilities of places to visit and interesting things to do if you want to leave the property. We found that walking on the beach, using the walking trails on the cliffs and enjoying the tennis courts to be sufficient for us, but there is much to do in the area. We did go up to Point Arena and climb up the lighthouse for beautiful views of the coastline. There are some good restaurants in the area, too.

If you love the ocean, this is the place for you!

AWESOME HOME. Every little thing we wanted. Finally found Our Sea Ranch Home!

What a delight!! The wet and rainy coastal getaway was so refreshing for the mind and spirit. Originally I was having a difficult time finding a Sea Ranch vacation rental that had everything we wanted. When we found this one it seemed almost too good to be true. From the time we pulled into the driveway and after touring the house, I knew our 3 nights were not going to feel like enough. The pictures are accurate but it all looked even better in person. The place was super clean and we found any little thing we could possibly need. And we loved the fact that if we didn’t want to use the home’s furnace we could use either the very efficient wood-burning stove or the cozy fireplace for warmth in the evenings. Can’t wait to return!

Gorgeous Home - Sea Ranch Doesn't Get Any Better than This !

I can't put into words how special this was to me and my family. What an incredible place to stay. My only hesitation in giving this home a great review is the fear that when we want to go back it could get hard to book! We would have stayed here longer if it had not been booked after our visit. This home is so lovely with tons of light coming through lots of windows. The deck is a perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and watch the mesmerizing waves. The kitchen does indeed have everything you could need. The home itself is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. If anything, the photos don't do it justice. There were lots of interesting books from every genre in the loft upstairs. The close proximity to the Ohlson Rec Center was ideal for the swimmers and tennis players in our group. We did a lot of hiking and really enjoyed our trip to to the petite Annapolis Winery where the owners have been been making wine since the 1980s. Absolutely no complaints. Would love to stay here again. Thank you so much for the wonderful home away from home!

Exceptional Accomodations

We had an outstanding 3 day weekend at this home which was recently remodeled. The new kitchen features modern appliances and is fully furnished. There is an unobstructed view of the ocean. We were able to see the grey whales migrating north from the living room. The home is about 35 yards from the stairs going down to the beach. A large flat screen TV with Direct TV provides you with entertainment to supplement the pelicans and seagulls flying by, the deer grazing early in the morning. The hot tub and outdoor barbeque are added features which were enjoyed. This is a special place!

Peaceful Sea Ranch

5 STAR in every way!

Excellent in every way! Vista Del Mar is wonderful inside and out. The views of the spectacular sea in all its grandeur can be found in every room. An easy walk to Stengel Beach. Words cannot do it justice.

It was the most relaxing 3 days I have ever spent in any one place. IN addition, you can kayak on the beautiful Gualala river only a few miles down the road. Or, play a set or two of tennis- the courts are well maintained.

Spectacular Place!

When my husband and I arrived at this property, we thought we entered paradise! Unobstructed views, gorgeous weather, quiet surroundings, and lots to do. Vacationers can walk to a trail right in front of the property which is along the coastline and stretches for 8 miles. There is a wonderful and well-kept recreation center overlooking the ocean which has a large pool and several tennis courts.

But the best part is the unique property itself which has a ton of space, a hot tub (overlooking the ocean of course!), and a beautiful garden. The owners have paid attention to every detail, leaving clear instructions for everything you would need.

Serene and magical

I had an incredible time spending the weekend at Vista Del Mare. The home was easy to find. Many windows with incredible views of waves breaking over rocks and pelicans flying northward. Wonderful deck for sitting in chairs or in the jacuzzi. Gas grill on which we made salmon and chicken. Very cozy area by the dining table for watching TV or listening to music. Everything labeled in the kitchen and easy to find. Lots of bedrooms for people to spread out. Extremely quiet. I would go back in a heartbeat (and so would everyone who stayed with me)!

Amazing Getaway

This is a beautiful, spacious and impeccably maintained home on a breathtaking stretch of the Sonoma County coast. The pictures and words can not fully express the feelings of relaxing on the deck or lounging in the hot tub as deer graze on native grasses a few steps away, hawks soar majestically overhead, waves crash at your feet and you watch the sun sink into the pacific.

Peaceful and Private Sonoma Coast Home

Recently, I had the privilege of staying at Vista Del Mar on the Sonoma Coast, and the experience far-exceeded my expectations.

Being from Seattle, I am accustomed to staying at world-class homes and resorts in the Pacific Northwest for both pleasure and business. I have never stayed at a nicer place than Vista Del Mar in over 30 years. The location at Sea Ranch is beautiful, private, and very peaceful. The home is stunning and has everything one would want or need during a stay. It is in immaculate shape and the listing photos accurately reflect the appearance and amenities.

On one of the days at Vista Del Mar, our group played golf at Sea Ranch Golf Links. Though I had planned to play, I chose to spend my time sitting on the deck and enjoyed quiet time watching the ocean until the golfers returned for hot tub and cocktail time.

The owner was very helpful and gave me a great deal of information about the entire area which contributed to an excellent whole experience. I would strongly recommend this property to anyone, feel it is a good value, and plan to return again in early 2013 for a family reunion.

Quiet Get-away in a Stunning Beach-side Setting

Spacious California north coast retreat with uncluttered views of the coast from a seaside vantage point. Unforgettable sunsets from inside, on the deck or in the hot tub. Serene accommodations with privacy for parents or host and separate bath & bedrooms for kids or guests.

We found no real need to drive anywhere once we had stocked up with food. Just watching, walking and jogging up and down the coast or on the local trails provided plenty of variety and peace. For those new to the area there are plenty of local attractions in towns and parks up and down the coast. The house has a good internet connection with TV and sound system if you don't want a total disconnect from daily life.

The weather on our fall weekend was perfect for shorts and tee shirts. We look forward to experiencing the winter weather on a return trip -- and then warming ourselves by the two fireplaces.

Amazingly Beautiful Weekend with Family

EXCELLENT. What more can I say? This stunning oceanfront home is exactly that. A chef's kitchen, views from every room, and Adirondack chairs on the deck to enjoy the beautiful view make this house a winner. The owner, John, is also a gem. Easy to work with and was very attentive leading up to our stay and afterwards.

Beds were comfy and I loved having access to a music system in the house. We cooked and listed to music with wine in our glasses all evening, watching the sun go down. Just a perfect stay at a perfect home. Would totally recommend it to friends, family, and other VRBO renters. This place is the best!

Stunning and Serene!!

This Sea Ranch home is absolutely breathtaking! We could not have enjoyed our time there more. Highlights: Views from every room; Amazing hot tub under the stars; Private beach just steps away (we were the only ones there!); The PIANO - we were lucky enough to have two people in our group who play, so we had our own sea side concerts; Watching the sunset from the gorgeous deck. We can't stop talking about our amazing time at Vista Del Mar and are hoping to go back again soon!

Coastal Beauty

This is the perfect get-away home to rest, and rejuvenate. The home is clean, comfortable and well stocked for your relaxing experience. Everything is in excellent working order. There is a lovely patio and there are ocean-facing window seats to enjoy the spectacular coastal views from this ocean-front property. The well-maintained hiking trails lead for hours from the property front along the coastline and past beautiful Sea Ranch homes. Along the way there is a recreation center for swimming and tennis, and a harbor seal marine preserve where you watch the pups diving and playing in the ocean just below you. Bring a good book and enjoy a slower pace.

Essential Sea Ranch

Perfect Family Vacation Spot

This was our second summer staying at Vista Del Mar and we were just as thrilled this year as last year. The home is clean, comfortable and well-equipped. John, the owner, is a pleasure to work with and is so friendly and accommodating which certainly enhances the experience. The location is absolutely perfect being so close to the bluff where we can watch the surf from the window seats. Vista Del Mar is more incredible than in the listing!

John's house was even more incredible in person than in the listing. My friends and I had a lovely relaxing and carefree weekend sitting out on the deck and enjoying the scenery. The kitchen and house are very generously appointed. We cooked a few large meals and there wasn't anything we needed the house didn't have. I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic Seaside Escape & New Favorite!!

As promised, Vista Del Mar is a wonderful home-away-from-home when visiting Sea Ranch, California! My sister and I took six friends for a long weekend and could not have been more pleased with our accommodations.

Customer Service. A+ From the booking process to just before we arrived, the owner (John) was in regular communication with us. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and made some excellent suggestions of restaurants and other things to do. It’s also great that his family is so invested in the local community and its welfare.

Accommodations. A+ There was plenty of space for eight women. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and indoor living areas were comfortable, clean and inviting. The TV and stereo equipment was easy to operate and worked seamlessly with our phones and tablets. The house has everything you'll need – sheets, towels, plenty of kitchen utensils and cookware, etc. The outdoor deck was amazing and a favorite place for us to kick back as a group! We were so close to the Pacific Ocean we felt we were on a cruise!

Environment. A+ Beautiful! Whether you’re into golf, hiking, swimming, biking or just leisurely strolling through some of the wonderful little coastal towns like Gualala, Anchor Bay or Point Arena and stopping for a bite to eat, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities!

Magical vist to Vista Del Mar

Vista Del Mar is an exquisite property with amazing views AND beach access! The owner was ALWAYS available to answer all questions and was extremely accommodating when I needed to change my reservation . The house was just beautiful and serene and the kitchen extremely well stocked. Magical views of whales migrating with their calves and deer grazing in our back yard . A true paradise to which I would definitely return !

Perfect for a relaxing girls trip!

I stayed at Vista Del Mar with 6 friends and it was wonderful. We enjoyed walking down to the beach for sunset, walking along the coast to visit the seal pup beach, golfing at the links course 5 minutes down the road, relaxing in the hot tub, and having happy hour drinks and snacks in the Adirondack chairs that overlook the beautiful sea ranch coastline. In addition, the beds were comfortable, the house was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was truly a great weekend, and our group is already planning on returning! And, of course, John was a great host - he left a very helpful guide book and was 100% available by phone and text for anything we needed.

Spectacular Stay at Vista Del Mar !

We are very seasoned renters and have been coming up to Sea Ranch for many years. We first rented homes in the Sea Ranch ‘Forest’, then the ‘Hillside’, then the ‘Meadows’, then the ‘Oceanfront’ and now finally Vista Del Mar, which from now on will be our ONLY Sea Ranch getaway! The location is absolutely incredible: as soon as we opened the front doors of this home and saw the breathtaking views we wondered to ourselves why in the world had we spent all those years renting homes at Sea Ranch that were NOT at the sea? Basically every room in this home has a stunning view.

Having stayed in a variety of homes at Sea Ranch that were far below our expectation, this home was just amazing: very well maintained with everything you might want. In the past we had used local rental agencies; we had to schlep our own sheets and towels from home as well as the little stuff like kindling and wood for the fireplace, charcoal and lighter for the grill, and kitchen supplies like foil, plastic wrap, coffee filters, etc. When I spoke to John I was amazed that everything we might need was included in the home. We were even pleasantly surprised with a very nice basket of goodies upon arrival!

Unparalleled Sea Ranch Stay!

After renting a variety of homes through rental agencies for our family get-togethers, we just discovered our permanent Sea Ranch vacation rental home! In the past we had experiences with rental agencies who didn’t know anything about the homes they were managing, so it was so refreshing to work directly with the owner (John) who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Vista Del Mar is beautifully furnished and very comfortable; everything was spotless - hurray for the housekeepers (such a plus when renting). Anything we could possibly need to cook with we found in the drawers and cupboards. The grand piano was an unexpected treat for the musicians in our group. The location just could not be beat with a very private beach just below the house which provided endless entertainment for the youngsters. We spent hours on the huge deck which was perfect for sipping a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon glass of wine. The house has all you need and everyone was very comfortable...the hot tub was a big hit with everyone! Thanks again John...we can't wait to be back later this year!!!!

The very best of Sea Ranch!

We have rented numerous vacation homes in Sea Ranch and enjoyed all of them for different reasons. Topping the list by a wide margin is Vista Del Mar perched atop a bluff with unobstructed panoramic ocean views from the huge deck, hot tub and every room in the house. The home is exquisitely cared for by owner John Reis who is extremely attentive and a gem to work with! Upon arrival, every corner of the home was spotless and welcoming, with personal touches throughout. It is spread out over two wings which made it perfect for our two families celebrating a special birthday in a most special place. The kitchen is a well-stocked chef's paradise and a variety of music, games, books and DVDs were available for our enjoyment. Top all of this off with the sound of waves crashing as you awake the next morning to the possibility of seeing whales from the deck outside your window (this amazing sight occurred for us during our stay) and you have the very best of Sea Ranch in which to immerse!

Vista Del Mar = Heaven

Our group of 4 spent 3 nights in this beautiful home. Sitting and relaxing on the expansive deck and watching the ocean was our major entertainment; however, sitting in the hot tub watching the views was a close second. The photographer in our group came back with some amazing photos: wildlife, sunsets, tidepools. All so beautiful. I consider myself a home gourmet cook and I had a blast cooking an early Thanksgiving dinner in the very well equipped kitchen. All I needed to bring was the food, everything I could need was supplied. We look forward to returning and hopefully making it a yearly event!

Beautiful Home!!!

This is a wonderful home. Beautiful cedar paneling throughout. Hardwood floors. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely furnishings. Hot tub. Ocean front. Lots of big windows with views. 3 Window seats for lounging, reading, watching the view. Baby grand Steinway piano. Hot tub. 5 minute walk to a beach. 10 minute walk to tennis courts, pool, sauna. This house has it all. I was blown away when we walked it. The best place I have ever rented!

Fantastic home with awesome ocean views

Recently returned from a lovely stay at Vista Del Mar. We had just incredible weather which provided for beautiful ocean viewing from every room of the house. The colorful and gorgeous sunsets and cloudscapes were just amazing and you just open the sliding door to the front deck and you can hear the roar of the surf. Our family has rented many vacation rental homes both in the US and Europe. This house is clearly the best of all of them. It is VERY clean, and overall just delightful. The kitchen is very well equipped (anything a renter might need), the beds are very comfortable and an incredibly spacious master bedroom. You could not ask for a better location with easy access to a very private beach just below the home. First class all the way! When we return to Sea Ranch, there is no question about where we will rent. This is the place!!

We were just swept away by the beauty here!

We had two families that stayed in this gorgeous home. Our only problem was that we were there too short of a time (just three nights)! The home has wonderful character and the views from each room just swept us away! Also, even though there were seven of us there was lots of space for together time and plenty of break out space for privacy as well.

We had a pianist in the group so it was incredible being able to listen to some beautiful music while taking in some of the loveliest coastline in all of California. We also really enjoyed being able to barbecue on the huge deck. Unlike many rental homes we have stayed in before (including others at Sea Ranch) this is very obviously a family home that has been loved and well-taken care of.

Everything about our stay was just perfect. John was great with communication (terrific suggestions on restaurants and other things to do!) and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we felt cared for. One of John’s tips that I have to pass on was his suggestion to take in a performance at the Gualala Arts Center: a multi-million-dollar cultural facility and an amazing addition to the charming town of Gualala. They have some really interesting art exhibitions and some performing arts events as well.

We can’t wait to come back to Vista Del Mar!

Breathtaking Home in a Spectacular Setting

I honestly can't imagine a more beautiful and tranquil place to spend a long weekend than Vista Del Mar. The panoramic ocean views, the lingering sunsets, the restless waves, the tidal pools filled with sea life, the harbor seals on the rocks -- all of this soul-stirring spectacle envelops visitors to this remarkable property. The home is immaculately maintained; every need has been considered and provided for. Nearby recreational amenities abound. The owners are a great pleasure to work with. Our highest recommendation.

Magical!

Some close friends and I (8 people) rented out Vista Del Mar for a three-day weekend and enjoyed what was probably one of the most comfortable and relaxing vacations we've ever experienced. The home is set up beautifully with a well thought out, minimal aesthetic and an attention to all the things that make life easier. The kitchen was fully stocked with well-sharpened knives, a full range of pots, pans and baking sheets, and more than enough dining ware for our entire party. The home entertainment system was easy to use and made for enjoyable football games/movies/music listening. The speakers near the hot tub came in handy and were easy to adjust separately from the indoor set. The bedrooms were each comfortable and there are a couple delightful napping spots near the huge windows in the living room. A quick 5 minute walk brought us down to an expansive beach where seals lay sunning themselves and otters played in the waves. The town of Gualala was an easy drive away and afforded us all the food and drink we needed. All in all, it was an exceptional experience that gave us a much needed break from our time in the city. We look forward to coming back again soon!

A Memorable Experience!

My husband and I stayed at Vista Del Mar with a group of old friends. What a wonderful home! Very clean, comfortable and well stocked. The views are amazing, just steps from the ocean bluff and walking trails. We loved watching the sunset from the large deck overlooking the ocean. Magnificent Home !!!

This Sea Ranch home is breathtaking! We came here for a family birthday celebration and it was the highlight on our calendar for many months and we had been looking forward to our visit with great anticipation. This home exceeded our expectations in every possible way. The home was spotless, absolutely immaculate. The kitchen very well equipped. We loved the beautiful walks by the ocean and then returning to the home and playing the piano as the sunset was setting over the ocean. The beach just below the house had a gorgeous delicate waterfall and there was even a nice area for wind-sheltered picnicking and it was fun watching the harbor seals play in the surf. This home set the bar pretty high. No need to travel anywhere else, ever!! The owner was immediately attentive to our every question. We enjoyed our stay so much, and YES, we will return here as soon as possible!

Could not have been more perfect!

Thank you for much for allowing our family to stay at your home at Sea Ranch. It was the first time our family of 8 had gotten together in 15 years! What a home!

The home was absolutely perfect for our group of 8. We spent a long weekend and mostly stayed in! Wonderfully equipped kitchen for dinners in, evenings in the “great room” with room for everyone to visit, and a terrific location. We had some musicians who loved the Steinway grand piano. This property is definitely a step -- or many steps -- above the usual vacation rental home, but definitely worth the extra money. We've stayed at numerous vacation properties all over and I have to say this home was easily the most comfortable home we've ever stayed at. When we did venture into town -- Gualala is just a seven minute drive away – we found a couple of excellent restaurants, a fine-foods store, a bookstore and a first-rate crafts gallery. John was very helpful before our arrival answering our questions. I’d highly recommend Vista Del Mar and we plan to come back and make this an annual retreat!

Perfect getaway for our family

We just spent a few days with family at this gorgeous home right on the ocean, in the company of seabirds, seals and whales. The secluded beach right in front of the house was perfect - smooth sand to play on, crashing waves and privacy. We went for many walks and runs along the cliffs, and ventured to the Del Mar Centre to swim in the lovely heated pool. The house was fantastic - spacious, immaculate, incredibly well-equipped, comfortable and with incredible views from every room. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and the hot tub. It was a fantastic break from the snowy winter in Canada, and we all look forward to a return visit! Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

Amazing in every way!

The house itself is in a stunning location, and the interior of the home is beautiful and welcoming. It is a true home and the moment we stepped in the door we all felt the great energy in the house. Extraordinary Experience

In late September 2013, I visited The Sea Ranch for an autumn getaway. I try to take a trip every fall and attempt to pick a beautiful, quiet, and natural environment. Past favorite destinations have included Big Sur, Sun Valley, and Orcas Island.

The Sea Ranch, in my mind, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Located on the North Sonoma Coast, the terrain is rugged and stunningly beautiful as it kisses the Pacific Ocean. Sea Ranch itself is a planned community that was built in in the 1960's by Castle & Cooke. Their vision directed that people would join the natural environment with minimal impact. Today The Sea Ranch is comprised of the 5,200-acre old Del Mar Ranch with ten miles of ocean shoreline.

Vista Del Mar is a stunning home that was designed by Elee Tsai. It is located right on the ocean, and truly makes one feel a part of nature. The large deck is great just for sitting and watching the clouds while listening to peaceful music on the outdoor speakers. It has a wonderful hot tub with a view of the ocean, and a lovely outdoor barbecue. During my visit, I saw deer grazing near the deck. The interior of Vista Del Mar is all natural wood and is very tastefully decorated. Anything one would ever want has been provided by the owner!

As Jack Nicholson would say, "This is as good as it gets!"

My recent visit was an experience I will always treasure.

This home far exceeded our expectations!

What the pictures don’t really show is how close the home is to the water: the property is less than 100’ from the bluff! There is a very private beach just below the home. I know there are many homes available to rent at Sea Ranch but we found that less than 10% are actually ON the water like this one is. Most people come to Sea Ranch to be “at the Sea”…and you just can’t go wrong with this one. This home is undeniably one of Sea Ranch’s finest vacation rentals, and from the moment you walk in, you won’t be able to help but fall in love with it. The home was immaculate, and the location was absolutely amazing!!! Beds were comfortable, the kitchen contained plenty of equipment for our baking and cooking needs, and the outdoor grill (with a direct connection to the house, so no need for a propane tank) was wonderful. It was everything and more than described in the VRBO listing. The owner John was great too. We loved it so much, we are planning our next return visit!

A couple from down south discover a beautiful retreat at Sea Ranch

I highly recommend this property - - pictures can not reflect the uniqueness of this gorgeous escape right next to the ocean--the house was spotless on arrival with an immaculately cared-for and very appealing atmosphere throughout the home. We could watch sea lions and their pups from the front deck area and more than one beckoning walk was made throughout our stay along the beautiful Sea Ranch oceanfront. I have deftly lost more than one tennis match at the enclave's courts--maybe I will try their beautiful golf course next time, as I am sure to return to this very relaxed but well-appointed home. Nature's masterful blending of sea and land on the north coast was not crowded and we were able to make use of the nearby town of Gualala's bounty of food, wine and arts and crafts choices.
